TN Tech’s Bragga Credits Players for Historic Achievement

Tennessee Tech Baseball Head Coach Matt Bragga recently won his 555th game.

The win put Bragga at fifth place all time in OVC wins. Bragga currently possesses 557 wins, eight shy of fourth place in the OVC. Bragga said he credits the players he has coached throughout his tenure.

“The players are the ones out there, you know, winning the games and all that stuff,” Bragga said. “So been very blessed and fortunate to coach a lot of young men that are incredible people and incredible baseball players.”

Bragga has coached Tennessee Tech since 2004. He has won OVC Coach of the Year four times. Bragga said the relationships he has with his players are key to winning games.

“I think we’ve built a great culture here and we’re fortunate enough to have some amazing assistant coaches that have helped do that,” Bragga said. “And then a lot of players that have bought in to what we are doing at Tennessee Tech and the dreams we have for this program.”

Bragga said he gives the athletic department credit for sticking with him during the first few years.

“I just look back at the patience of our administration to say hey, we believe in this guy even though the record doesn’t show that yet,” Bragga said. “So I’ve been very fortunate and blessed by that.”

Bragga started his first three seasons with a combined 46-109 record. He has a record of 562-463-3 since the start of the 2005 season.

Tennessee Tech will look for their fifth berth in NCAA Regionals. The Golden Eagles currently sport a 31-17 record.
