Braden Green has always wanted to become a member of the Upperman Bees baseball team.
Green is a junior at Upperman High School. Green said he has played baseball for as long as he can remember. Green said he played baseball all the time growing up with his brother.
“It just turned into something more serious.” Green said. “I started competing more and more as I got older and got bigger, stronger. It’s always been a second nature to me it feels like.”
Braden currently plays infield and pitcher for the Bees. Green said his dad helped get him into the sport.
“I always enjoy having people around me.” Green said. “Even the people that I haven’t known that aren’t family still come and support me to this day.”
Braden’s dad is currently the middle school coach at Upperman. He also helps coach Braden’s sister, who currently plays softball.
“Every time when I was seven to eight years old in that range, I was always around the middle school players and they seemed happy to meet me at that time and I looked up to all them all the time.” Green said.
Braden Green currently leads the Bees in hits this year with 25. He is the only Bee to hit a home run so far this season. Braden also ranks among the top Bees in average (.385,) slugging percentage (.523,) and stolen bases (3.)
The Upperman Bees possess a record of 13-8. They will begin a series against Cumberland County on Monday.
