The Livingston Academy Wildcats Baseball Team wants to take the next steps in the second half.
The Wildcats have started the 2025 season 5-5. They have seen their offense score three or more runs in every win so far. Livingston Baseball Head Coach Jamie Loftis said his team needs to do better hitting the baseball.
“We struggled at the plate.” Loftis said. “We’ve not taken a very good approach, swinging at things we shouldn’t be swinging at, not swinging at things that we shouldn’t be swinging at and so hopefully we’re going to get that turned around.”
Livingston will continue their season with their next series against Stone Memorial. Loftis said he expects his pitchers to go farther starting games.
“It’s a lot better if we can get seven out of one guy, at least for one of those two games.” Loftis said. “It sets us up better, especially on the Monday game, it sets us up a lot better for Tuesday.”
Loftis said he has been blessed the last three years to have received pitchers that can go deep into games.
“The rest of the team knows that, when they walk on the field, you know, with a guy who’s gonna give you seven their confidence certainly goes up for sure.”
Loftis said he wants to see his team swing the bats early and often in their next series against Stone Memorial. Livingston put up 17 total runs in the two games played against Stone last season.
The Wildcats seek their first ever state appearance.
