Jackson County baseball player Daniel Thomen said he loves to see the energy his teammates bring every night.
Senior Daniel Thomen started playing baseball at a young age. Thomen said he always tries to do his best every time he is on the field.
“I try to be a better teammate for my guys out there.” Thomen said. “I’ve had some fun times playing baseball all my life. I’ve never been the greatest at hitting, but slowly throughout the years, gotten better, finding barrels and chasing pitches.”
Thomen currently pitches and plays outfield for the Jackson County Blue Devils. Thomen said he plays outfield because people say he has a very good arm.
“He can track balls pretty good too.” Jackson County Head Coach Alex Bray said. “We’ve turned [him] around and made him a pitcher this year.”
Thomen has one of the highest strike percentages among Jackson County pitchers this year.
“Oh it’s great. I wish I would have started [pitching] a little sooner.” Thomen said. “I just try to fill up the zone and let my guys do the rest and [trust their] defense.”
Thomen and Kain Brown act as the only two seniors for Jackson County this season. Both seniors currently sit top two on the team in lowest ERA (earned run average.) Brown’s ERA stands at 1.11, while Thomen’s sits at 2.10.
