Cookeville’s Webb Seeing Softball Team Playing To Potential

Cookeville softball player Kali Webb said she knows what it takes to step up.

Webb is the daughter of Softball Head Coach Jordan Webb. The sophomore is part of a Cookeville offense that has scored 43 runs in their last five games. Webb said she credits a lot of her success to her coaches and parents.

“I’ve grown up around Cookeville high school softball,” Webb said. “So I knew what it meant to step up and play at this level and just get better all around.”

Webb plays shortstop for the Cookeville Lady Cavaliers. Webb said she has learned a lot playing around a senior laden infield.

“I’m still learning and getting through it and growing up and maturing and helping the freshmen now do what I did that got me to where I am and hopefully will continue to get better and grow,” Webb said.

Webb said she continues to get more comfortable at shortstop.

“There’s times where it’s hard when you’re making errors or you’re just not playing like you want to,” Webb said. “But I think it all comes around with confidence and, you know, knowing you can play that position and just keeping it relatively steady being there and just making all the plays you can.” Webb said.

Kali Webb has seen career highs on both ends of the softball field. She stands with a fielding percentage of 94.7, second on the Lady Cavaliers. Webb has also enjoyed success hitting the ball, ranking second on the team in hits, runs, and stolen bases.

Cookeville currently stands 5-12 on the season.
