Cookeville’s Clouse Determined to Build Boys Soccer

Cookeville Boys Soccer head coach Bralen Clouse wants to help his team grow in multiple ways.

Clouse will complete his fifth season as head coach of the Cookeville Cavaliers. He took over the position after being named assistant coach after graduating from Cookeville. Clouse said this year really stands out to him in a lot of ways.

“I got to tell you I’m excited for, I’m excited for the next year to two years and I’m really excited for the next ten years because of the amount of soccer going on in the Upper Cumberland.” Clouse said. “It’s really grown.”

Clouse said multiple soccer clubs in Cookeville have helped grow the soccer team.

“They’re playing all those years and whenever I come in, it makes my job a lot easier.” Clouse said. “I still have a lot of work to do but it makes it a lot easier and I’m thankful for that because we really needed that.”

Clouse said the Cookeville soccer program was at a standstill right before COVID hit.

“We don’t want to rely on this year.” Clouse said. “We want to make sure we kind of take the reins early this year and see if we can go on to the region[al tournament.]”

Bralen Clouse started all four varsity years on the Cookeville soccer team. The Cavaliers went to state all four years Clouse played. The Cavaliers have not appeared in the state tournament since the 2019 season.

“We’ve gotten progressively better every single year.” Clouse said.
