Cookeville Announces Return of Men’s Church League

Registration has begun for Cookeville’s annual recreational summer church league.

The league will begin its fourth season June 2nd. It will see all games played every Monday night at the Cane Creek SportsPlex. Cookeville Superintendent Seth Bruton said he is excited for what the league has to offer.

“It’s just another great way to be able to have, you know, build up another opportunity for them, for outreach,” Bruton said. “Another chance for them to, you know, just to be able to get outside the church setting, you know, kind of explore some of the recreational opportunities that we’ve got.”

The registration deadline is May 23rd. Bruton said the league is one of the most fun and exciting leagues the community has to offer.

“We’ve had some teams that haven’t put teams in, in over, you know, ten years,” Bruton said. “And they’ve started coming back each year, the last couple of years and continuing to grow.”

Bruton said word of mouth has also been important to growing the league.

“When we started, we kind of had like a core group that kind of came over from the original one, you know, about six teams or so,” Bruton said. “And we’ve seen it grow each and every year since then.”

The league has expanded every year since its introduction in 2021. Bruton said he is looking at options of possibly dividing the league into two divisions. One division would be more competitive while the other would stand as the more recreational and laid back division.

The summer men’s church league will see their season end in late July after the playoffs conclude.
