Clay Softball Seeing Leadership Develop Among Players

The Clay County Lady Bulldogs have seen growth throughout the softball season.

Clay Softball Head Coach Homer Dailey has seen his team hit well and run well. They scored 13 runs to complete a sweep of the Upperman Bees. Dailey said he sees a gritty bunch of girls ready to give 110 percent in every game.

“Later on when they’re juniors or seniors that they would treat others the same way and, you know, and demand they get better and help them get better and be there for them every step of the way.” Dailey said.

The Lady Bulldogs rotate two seniors on their team out of their 15 players. Dailey said having leadership is big for the team.

“No better feeling if you’re a pitcher to know that, that if somebody’s gonna try their best to make a play for you, and if it don’t happen it won’t be because of lack of effort.” Dailey said.

Dailey said he believes the team has improved everywhere.

“They’ve all pushed one another to get better each and every day and they say that every day and they go to work every day.” Dailey said.

Dailey said Clay has used the motto “we, not me” this season. The Bulldogs played Livingston Academy Monday. The game marked the first of four games in five days.

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Red Boiling Springs for their next game.
