White County Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger received a 3.1 out of 4 on his annual School Board Evaluation.
Board Chairman Bob Young said this year’s evaluation process included Dronebarger providing objective evidence for each question on how he was meeting that goal.
“So, this would be an evaluation that I would say was different from how we’ve done it in the past, just because we had that extra amount of resources for us to refer to,” Young said. “We did have some evidence rather than just being what we may have discovered on our own.”
Board Member Jayson McDonald said he appreciated Dronebarger’s ability to accept constructive criticism from the community.
“I appreciate the way you take it,” McDonald said. “I appreciate the way that you offer a resolution to a lot of those issues, even when it’s hard. I appreciate that. I just have enjoyed the time that I’ve got to work on this board and with this board. It’s not an easy job to sit up here and go through all these laws and all these budget numbers. I appreciate you doing that on a daily basis, and just continue to do the good work.”
Board Member John Smith said he has worked at Tennessee Tech for 30 years and has never gone through such an extensive evaluation.
“The evidence that you provided was extremely appreciated, because as a board, we don’t know the answers to all of those, whether this is being done by you or by your team,” Smith said. “I think you do a great job for our school. I think you’ve done a great job for our school system, so I appreciate you.”
