York Baseball is getting ready for tournament action.
The Dragons finished the regular season with a win at home Monday. The win capped York’s record at 15-10. York Head Coach Adam Bowden said his team’s chemistry has been good all season.
“I think that’s what you got to have on a team,” Bowden said. “You got to have guys that are unselfish, willing to root on the guy that’s coming in to get them.”
York will begin their quest for a district tournament championship against Smith County. York lost all three matchups against Smith County this season. Bowden said it will take a lot to come out on top.
“We got to go out and play defense like we’re capable of and, you know, rely on our good pitching and take care of little things at the plate,” Bowden said. “We got to be able to move runners over and when we put runners in scoring position, we got to get them in.”
Monday’s game marked senior night for the Dragons. Bowden said it was good to get the win for the seniors.
“It’s a really, really good group of guys and, you know, they’re gonna be successful in whatever they decide to do after high school.” Bowden said.
York honored their five seniors in Monday’s win. They will enter Thursday’s game against Smith County having won nine of their last 12 games.
Game one between York and Smith County is set for Thursday, with game two of the series set for Friday.
