The Baxter Planning Commission accepted the preliminary plat for the construction of the Anatolia Cabinet Manufacturing facility.
The proposed site plan is located off Ward Mill Road next to Fixtur World Designs. Baxter Codes Director Bob Lane said the plat still needs a few revisions before final approval.
“The water loop, we want to double-check, and a hotbox to maintain heat for a backflow preventer, and that stuff on the far line,” Lane said. “Number of employees was important, so we know how to size the pump for the building, just that type of stuff.”
Lane also said the commission asked that the road width in the site plan be changed from 24 feet to 26 feet to meet the city ordinance. Lane said the final plat could be approved on the contingency of the planning commission without having to wait till the next planning commission meeting.
“I need to see some detention on the stormwater, and they are gonna bring one back,” Lane said. “If it meets everything we ask for, then they will be able to commence.”
Lane said the cabinet manufacturer will bring 45 jobs to Baxter. Lane said bringing a cabinet manufacturing facility to Baxter would have a positive economic impact.
“That will certainly make a difference,” Lane said. “That will cause more houses to be built. People will spend money in Baxter. 45 new employees in the city of Baxter is huge.”
Lane said the parent company that is involved in the cabinet manufacturing facility is already located in Baxter. Lane said he believes this will be a great partnership for the city moving forward. Lane said he is not sure when construction would start for the facility, but it sounds like it will begin fairly soon after final approval.
