Jackson Soccer Team Seeing Growth As Season Concludes

Jackson County Boys Soccer Coach Kenneth Davis said his team continues to improve as they seek their first state playoff bid.

Last season, the Blue Devils qualified for the regional tournament for the first time in school history. The team stands undefeated in district play with the regular season finale Thursday. Davis said he wants to see his team take pride in how and who they play.

“I want them to represent our school and our community like they’ve done all year,” Davis said. “Play the hardest, to their full potential and, communication is the key in soccer. I just want them to keep playing their style and never change from the style that they, they understand how to do.”

This year’s team returns all but three players from last season. Only one started. Davis said he has seen the community turn out over recent games.

“We’ve got people that come in to watch our soccer games,” Davis said. “I tell my boys to go out and, they represent our school, they represent our community in the best way they can.”

Davis said he has taken different measures to help the team this season.

“One thing I’ve done a lot this year is we’ve, I’ve added a new assistant coach,” Davis said. “We’ve improved as the year has went on.”

Davis did not have a few players to start the season. Those players were on a Blue Devils basketball team that advanced to the state tournament. Davis said he has yet to play a game this season with a completely healthy lineup.

Jackson County concludes its season Thursday at DeKalb.
