Byrdstown’s $3.8 million Water Plant Project passed its first state review.
Byrdstown Mayor Sam Gibson said he was pleased with the results. Gibson said the first review is a way for the state to tabs on the project.
“They are gonna come in and they are gonna look at and see if the progress of the contract is moving like it should be and they are looking at technical things,” Gibson said.
Gibson said the state also looks to see if the construction site is following safety regulations. Gibson said the project has been making great progress as contractors are still pouring concrete at the new plant.
“The building is pretty much a concrete building so there’s still much more concrete and there’s just numerous amounts of steel because you know, whenever you are looking at a facility that is going to be holding as much water as that will be held there you gotta make sure it is pretty stout,” Gibson said.
A few months ago Gibson said the project would be delayed several months as cold weather hindered the contractor from pouring concrete. Gibson said with cold weather seemingly behind us, the project will now ramp up.
“Now that the temperatures like it is they are gonna be able to work full-time and try to get on this and get it going,” Gibson said. “I’m gonna assume that is gonna be early fall that it will be completed.”
