TCAP Pep Rally Helps Prepare For Next Week At Celina K-8

With TCAP testing starting next week, Celina K-8 tried to get rid of the testing jitters with a TCAP pep rally Friday.

Cheerleaders led cheers and students sang songs to get pumped up for next week. Celina K-8 Principal David Maxfield said he hopes the pep rally will help students prepare.

“Well, I think they need to see that there’s an importance there,” Maxfield said. “You know, I know it’s stress in the classrooms and such throughout the year but I think that they need to also see that it’s pretty important and you know, kind of like our sports teams it’s about pride and things and wanting to do well for our school and our community.”

Maxfield said the last thing the school wants is for the students to be tense going into testing. Maxfield said the pep rally was something that teachers had been waiting for.

“We’ve been talking it up, I had my leadership team together and we have been talking about this for the last month,” Maxfield said. “All the teachers are pumped about it and excited.”

Maxfield said though Pre-K through first grade do not take the TCAP test the school did not want to leave them out of the fun. The school also held a second pep rally for grades 5-8.

Hermitage Springs Elementary also held a TCAP pep rally.
