Cookeville’s Presley Becoming Leader on Softball Team

Cookeville Lady Cavaliers softball player Kadie Presley said she understands her responsibilities, set forth by her parents and Head Coach Jordan Webb.

Presley stands as one of four seniors for the Lady Cavaliers this season. Presley has seen her role as a leader grow this year.

“It’s helped me develop, just to have patience and just to be calm and just learning how to lead people.” Presley said. “It’s really helped me grow as a player and as a person.”

Presley said she credits her parents for helping her grow. Presley said she is a big fan of encouraging the younger players on the team.

“I don’t think you should ever tear somebody down and just, if they have a bad day just going to them and saying hey, you’ll get them next time.” Presley said. “I feel with younger girls they have to be encouraged.”

Presley said she either gives them verbal affirmation or a hug depending on the circumstance.

“I think that a lot of the freshmen, I think they’re finally getting comfortable and like the game’s kind of slowing down for them and there’s been some of them that have stepped up and have done what we’ve needed them to do.” Presley said.

Presley has also stepped up this season. She leads the team in runs scored and batting average. Presley also ranks second on the team in steals.

Presley said her goal this season is to encourage the freshmen to step up in their new roles.
