Cookeville’s Life Church hosting its Mobile Medical Mission this Saturday from 9am to 1pm.
Associate Pastor Bob Sotis said the event includes a meal, haircuts, medical, dental and vision care. Sotis said one of their main goals is to help fill a health gap that affects many Upper Cumberland residents.
“Part of it is there is such a need in our community for healthcare,” Sotis said. “People here who don’t have it or are scared to go to the doctor’s office.”
Residents interested in service can sign up on site Saturday morning. Sotis said the volunteer providers offer their services in buses. The vehicles will be scattered around the church’s parking lot.
“We have a big dental bus, eyeglasses bus and a big catering bus,” Sotis said. “We have multiple dental buses and we have stages. It’s interesting what we do, we create a city in the parking lot is what we do.”
The event is this Saturday from 9am to 1pm at Life Church’s Washington Avenue facility. Sotis said everyone who attends is bound to get something from their visit.
“We’re able to care for them in multiple ways,” Sotis said. ” Part of it is their medical needs, part of it is there spiritual needs and part of it is thru their belly. We just want to love on the people of the community.”
