The Algood Library is now open 40 hours a week, a ten-hour increase.
Algood Branch Librarian Andrea Batson said the library board made the decision after seeing increases in both visitation and circulation.
“Having longer hours here at the Algood Branch library benefits everyone,” Batson said. “It benefits the folks who are at work during the day and our school kids who are at school. It just means that we are available many more hours for the Algood community.”
Batson said the library will now be open 9am to 5pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 10am to 6pm on Tuesday and Thursday.
Batson said, despite most folks having a cell phone, most patrons come in to use a computer. Batson said the devices are used every day.
“We have a lot of folks who don’t have a computer and so they come to library to use our computers,” Batson said. “Here we have a printer, of course not everyone has a printer at home. And we have access to a printer that you can use that’s been so good.”
