Celina K-8 Installs Keyless Entries To Help With Safety

The Clay County School System has installed multiple new keyless entries at the Celina K-8 buildings.

Celina K-8 Principal David Maxfield said the keyless entries work as a card system that staff can scan to unlock doors. Maxfield said the school has installed the keyless entries on many of the main entrances to the building.

“We’ve gone to a keyless entry so that our faculties and staff have easier access,” Maxfield said. “And it seems to be as much or more secure now with the new locks that come with it.”

Maxfield said the school system paid for the keyless entries through a grant the school system received. Maxfield said in the future he would like to see every entrance to the building have a keyless entry.

“We are hoping that in the future to get more of our doors of other entrances so that the teachers will have access to those as well around the building,” Maxfield said.

Maxfield said the keyless entries have proven to be beneficial when transporting kids from building to building. Maxfield said faculty and staff have quickly adapted to the new keyless entries.

“I have not heard any of them complain,” Maxfield said. “I think they do like them and probably would like to see me put them on a little more of our doors.”

Maxfield said along with keyless entries the school was able to upgrade the building’s camera system. Maxfield said the camera system and keyless entries are major safety upgrades for the school.
