Van Buren Scoring Runs To Start ’25 Baseball Campaign

The Van Buren Eagles baseball season features a new look team and a new coach.

Dylan Roller took over in the off-season. Roller said he tries to do whatever possible to put the best spot to be successful.

“I mean that’s kind of what you do as a coach.” Roller said. “You really can’t play the game, you know, you can’t get between the white lines to play it yourself so I’m just doing whatever I can to make sure they’re as successful as they can be.”

The Eagles have averaged over 10 runs per game in their five wins. Roller said his team has bought into him and his coaching early on.

“The buy in’s been really well.” Roller said. “They’re starting to have confidence in [themselves,] and they’re starting to believe they can play with anybody.”

The Eagles have scored as many as 18 runs in a game. Roller said he wants to see Van Buren continue to play complete games.

“We’ve looked really good early on the mound.” Roller said. “We threw a few too many pitches but we had quality starts.”

Roller has led the Eagles to a 5-2 record in March. The Eagles’ two losses have seen their pitchers give up 20 total runs in those two defeats. Van Buren has played in only one game decided by three runs or less.

The Van Buren Eagles will open their April schedule against Chattanooga Arts and Sciences Thursday.
