The Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce has hired Brent Young as its new director.
Board of Directors President Terra Ballinger said the board believed that Young was the ideal candidate for the position.
“He has his fingers in like so many different committees and organizations,” Ballinger said. “He is just a wonderful person to have, You know, as the president his knowledge of the chamber is wonderful, so we just didn’t feel like we could go wrong with him.”
The chamber parted ways with previous director Jenny Dale in January. Ballinger said she believes the community will be behind the new direction of the chamber.
“We were wanting to go in a different direction and our chamber is doing great but as you know White County is growing,” Ballinger said. “And we were just ready for something just really great and so we knew it was time and that’s kind of the gist behind that.”
Ballinger said the new direction the chamber’s board is going is highlighting the businesses in the county.
“White County is a wonderful asset for the Upper Cumberland with all the falls, all the trails, and all the parks,” Ballinger said. “And so we are really just wanting to get out and get people just excited and get our business really highlighted in the area because we here in White County have some wonderful businesses that are very unique and wonderful.”
Ballinger said the chamber will have a welcoming ceremony for Young on Thursday, April 3 from 5pm-6:30pm at the Duck Pond Manor.
