Putnam County School System has completed the installation of a security vestibule at the student entrance of Cookeville High School.
The school already has a security vestibule at the main entrance. This security addition added as many students come and go throughout the day. Putnam County Schools Facilities and Construction Manager John Magura said the installation of the vestibule was completed during spring break.
“It took a few months for us to get the material for the job but that work has been completed as of this past week,” Magura said. “We had a smooth installation. It was performed by Mid State Construction and a few local sub-contractors.”
Now that students are back in school from spring break this is their first true experience with the vestibule being installed. Magura said so far students are quickly adjusting.
“I was by there earlier this week and all of the operations seem to be moving smoothly,” Magura said. “The students seemed to be adapting to it well.”
Magura said he believes the security vestibule will work as intended.
“I think this was a good idea,” Magura said. “It will keep a secondary option for us to get people in and out of the building safely.”
