DeKalb Lady Tigers Looking Forward to Next Season

The Lady Tigers concluded their season in the 7AAA district tournament.

DeKalb lost to Cumberland County by a score of 60-26. DeKalb’s season finished with a 6-23 record. Head Coach Brandy Alley said the biggest takeaway from this season was figuring out who her team can grow up to be as on and off the court.

“I think there as a lot more push to make things matter towards the end.” Alley said. “I feel our last [few games were] not representative of that.”

Alley said she looks forward to seeing what her squad can accomplish next season after coming together towards the beginning of district tournament play. DeKalb will begin next season as part of their new district.

“When we played Stone, I feel like you could really see that they were brought in to give absolutely everything that they had.” Alley said. “I think I’ve seen a lot of growth and starting to care more about details as the season went on.”

Alley said the juniors and seniors helped grow the underclassmen as the season progressed.

“That is something you continuously see through my team.” Alley said. “And then you see the younger girls being nothing but encouraging and trying to help as much as they possibly can too. This group of girls is amazing with that. They do love each other and they do help each other as best they possibly can in every aspect of life.”

Alley finsihed coaching this season with her youngest group of girls she has ever coached. When asked to pick a favorite moment this season, Alley said she enjoyed seeing each girl improve on her own more than any moment she saw on the court.

Brandy Alley will see three players graduate this month.
