The Upperman Bees boys basketball team defeated Hume-Fogg 54-40 in the state quarterfinals Thursday morning.
The win marks the second consecutive season Upperman advances to the state semifinals. Both wins have occurred against Hume-Fogg.
Upperman jumped out to an 18-3 lead in the first quarter. Sophomore Ty Cobb scored 14 of those 18 points. Hume-Fogg shot 1-10 from the field.
Upperman led by double digits for most of the game. Cobb finished with 28 points which led all scorers. Evan Huddleston scored four points and added four steals.
Hume-Fogg shot 37 percent from the field. They made four of their ten free throws. Michael Nwoye led the team with 15 points.
The Bees will play Friday at 4 pm. They seek their first ever appearance in the state championship.
