The Jackson County Blue Devils boys basketball team defeated Jackson Central-Merry 66-56 in the Class 2A state quarterfinal Wednesday night.
Will McCrary for Jackson County finished with 28 points and 16 rebounds. Both marks stood as highs for the game. Alex Meadows also finished with 17 points for the Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils traded leads throughout the first quarter. They went on a 7-0 run in the second quarter to take the lead. They would not relinquish the lead after that.
Jackson County extended their lead to as many as 14 points in the third quarter. Jackson Central-Merry followed with a 9-0 run to end the third quarter.
Jackson County improves their record to 29-2. They remain without a loss against a team from Tennessee this season.
The Blue Devils will play Alcoa Friday night. A win would send Jackson County to their first ever state championship.
