York defeated Gatlinburg-Pittman 60-45 Friday afternoon to advance to the Girls State Championship Saturday.
The Dragonettes advance to their second state championship game in the past four seasons. The school seeks its first state championship since 1984.
Reese Beaty led the team with 31 points. She finished with nine points in their one point victory over Memphis Business Wednesday night. Beaty finished with three assists in the game as well.
Friday’s game in Murfreesboro marked the third game this season between York and Gatlinburg, with the Dragonettes winning the final two.
York took the lead midway through the first quarter. They would not trail the rest of the game, with their 15 point margin of victory their largest of the afternoon.
Gatlinburg-Pittman cut the lead to single digits at the start of the second half. York would respond with a 5-0 run to extend the lead again, with part of the run encompassed by a Cali Franklin three pointer.
York will play in the Class 2A State Championship Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm, facing off with Westview.
