The Lady Cavaliers defeated Lincoln County 49-37 Thursday in the TSSAA State Quarterfinals at Murfreesboro.
Cookeville will face off against Bartlett Friday night at 7:15 in the state semifinals.
Cara Gilbert led Cookeville with 19 points including a 3 of 5 shooting performance from the three-point arc. Charlie Roby sored 15.
Cookeville led 4-0 early in the first quarter. Lincoln County led for the next quarter and a half. Cookeville took the lead with 2:26 left in the second quarter before Lincoln took it right back after a timeout. Cookeville led at the half 25-21.
The Cavaliers extended the lead to 11 in the third quarter. Cara Lee Gilbert scored 11 points in the quarter.
Cookeville outrebounded Lincoln County 38-21.
The win gives Cookeville their second appearance in the state semifinals in the last three seasons. Their 2023 appearance saw the Lady Cavaliers lose to Bradley Central.
The Cavaliers improve to 25-7.
