York Institute battled cold shooting from the floor and the free throw line to advance to the State Basketball Semifinals Wednesday night with a 44-43 win over Memphis Business Academy.
Guard Reese Beaty held to just nine points. Cali Franklin and Emma Pile led the Dragons with 11 points each. Franklin’s layup with 1:04 remaining gave York the lead for good. Pile forced a five-second call with nine seconds remaining to end Memphis’ hopes.
York will play Gatlinburg-Pittman Friday for a chance to head to the State Title Game. York beat Gatlinburg five weeks ago by a 57-49 score. The Dragons lost in an overtime matchup in December.
