Stone’s Permenter New Upperman Volleyball Coach

Tori Permenter will take over the Upperman Volleyball program.

The Stone Memorial Coach takes over an Upperman team that went to state two years ago. Permenter said the decision made sense.

“It did make sense.” Permenter said. “I’m super excited about it and I thank Stone Memorial a lot for taking a chance on me and I’ve had some great memories here and I look forward to making more great memories for Upperman.”

Permenter coached and taught at Stone Memorial for seven years. She will finish her teaching at Stone this school year before fully transitioning to Upperman for the start of next year.

“It’s honestly a full circle [moment] for me.” Permenter said. “I’m excited to bring my coaching knowledge to Upperman. That coaching staff over there, as well as Stone, they’re both great and looking forward to working with Coach [Jimmy] Maynord, the AD there.”

Permenter returns to teaching at Upperman, where she started as a student-teacher.

“I’ve created this volleyball family atmosphere at Stone, so just knowing that I’m leaving those girls to coach at another school, but they definitely understand, and they want the best for me as I want the best for them, and I hope whoever takes over cares as much as I did.” Permenter said.

Upperman began opening facilities and their gym in January, with tryouts announced for ninth through eleventh grade coming up later in March. The informational meetings took place earlier this winter, something Permenter said went really well.

“I just want to thank my Stone Memorial people, coworkers, the fans, the community.” Permenter said. “It’s really cool to see the sport grow in the Upper Cumberland and at Stone.”
