The Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats and White County Warriorettes will play for a regional title Wednesday night.
White County defeated Lawrence County at home and Franklin County in the semifinals. White County Head Coach Michael Dodgen said it remains important to keep his kids fresh.
“It’s a quick turnaround to play a regional championship game and you’re playing a familiar team.” Dodgen said. “You just got to compete again for 32 minutes and see what happens.”
Dodgen said his team remains with a lot of confidence after their recent performance. White County and Livingston will square off in Cookeville Wednesday night, with a tipoff time set for 7 pm.
Livingston defeated Tullahoma on the road, then the Upperman Lady Bees to advance.
“We played with a lot of energy.” Livingston Head Coach Lesley Riddle said. “I feel like we’ve got ourselves back on track.”
Riddle said team meetings and individual meetings took place after the district tournament to correct mistakes.
“I think we’ve got a real positive atmosphere going on right now and I think everyone’s back on the same page.” Riddle said. “Our confidence level is back up where it was.”
Livingston defeated both Tullahoma and Upperman by double digits after losing by a combined 49 points in both of their district games.
One of those district matchups occurred between Livingston and White County, who meet up for the fourth time this season. White County has won all three matchups against Livingston.
Both teams will compete for a home game in the state sectional round, to take place Saturday night at 7 pm. The losing team will travel to the winner of Heritage and Lenoir City.
