Stone Memorial Girls Basketball Looks Ahead to Next Season

The Stone Memorial Lady Panthers saw their season come to an end last week.

Stone Memorial fell short in a close affair to Livingston Academy, 50-47. The matchup occurred in the first round of the District 7AAA Tournament, where the remaining four teams would advance to regionals. Stone Head Coach Mike Buck said he could not be more proud of his team and what they had to endure.

“Any time you add a piece or take a piece away from a team, it becomes a new team and so for us to have added somebody like [Lauren Clark] in this last game, it made it really challenging.” Buck said.

Stone concludes their season 8-21 and 2-8 in District 7AAA.

“You don’t ever want to take things for granted, but trying to put in a game plan in just for one game and try to get that one win and be able to move on and get some extra games would have been huge for our program but just wasn’t able to do that.” Buck said. “It was a great game and I’m super proud of my girls.”

Buck said Kortney Headrick made a big difference on the court.

“She’s been that kid for us her entire career,” Buck said. “She did such a really good job for us, especially her toughness about her, and part of that is being able to make those open shots and she just did with a tough mindset and I was super proud of her.”

Headrick returned from a knee injury that cost her most of the 2024 calendar year. She finished with 15 points in the loss Friday night, which led the Lady Panthers.

Stone finishes in fifth place in District 7AAA.
