York Dragonettes guard Emma Pile set a new school record with 47 points last week.
Pile shot 15 of 20 from the three-point area in the win, scoring 45 of her 47 points from beyond the arc. Her 15 threes tied her for second all-time for threes made in one game in Tennessee girls basketball. Pile said everybody’s reaction and her last shot she hit made it clear she had broken the record.
“I think it was at halftime when I already hit ten,” Pile said. “And I went into the locker room and everyone was like, you need five more to break it and they were just hyping me up telling me that I was gonna get it so that’s when I realized [I could break the record.]”
Pile’s 47 points marked her third straight game of scoring at least 13 points.
“It’s a great accomplishment for me,” Pile said. “I have to give it to my teammates for getting me the ball and to my coach for letting me out there to break it. Just an amazing accomplishment for me.”
York Head Coach Michael Green said Pile’s form remains one of the purest forms of anybody in girls or boys basketball.
“I’ve been telling her the past two years, you’re the best shooter in the Upper Cumberland. You just got to be consistent and do it.” Coach Green said. “When you’ve got Reece Beaty on the floor and the other team is face-guarding you, that should be all the confidence you need. I don’t know what more confidence you would need than that. That’s a pretty huge statement in it of itself.”
