Overton County Schools announced the district was kept safe after a teacher made a comment that raised security concerns at Rickman Elementary.
A statement from the school board and Director of Schools Donnie Holman said there was a thorough review of the incident that concluded the matter was handled swiftly, appropriately, and in full compliance with district policies. The statement also confirmed that the teacher involved has since resigned from their position.
The announcement said the school system’s main focus was on the safety and well-being of students and staff throughout the process. It said Holman and the school board are satisfied with how the incident was handled and they now consider the matter resolved and closed.
