DeKalb County author Braedon Jett has published his second book, The Hilarious History of Your Bathroom: Crazy Fun Facts for Curious Kids.
Jett said this new work builds on his mission to make history not only entertaining but educational for young readers. Jett said his books are crafted to engage young minds through non-fiction short stories paired with entertaining illustrations. Jett said he chose to make this about the bathroom because he was thinking about when he used to be a kid.
“My first book was about the bedroom, and the second book, I chose the bathroom because I thought it would have the most funny history in it,” Jett said. “Potty humor, all that stuff. I thought it would be more enjoyable for kids.”
Jett said he has only improved from his first installment with writing and illustrations. Jett said his latest release includes more chapters and more objects. Jett said The Hilarious History of Your Bathroom takes readers on an adventure through everything from toilet paper to hair-gel to mirrors.
“For Mirrors, for example, I go back all the way to prehistoric times where people had to use just reflective minerals as mirrors,” Jett said. “And I go all the way back to modern era and some of the objects I talk about are newer advanced versions of them.”
Jett said he does have visions of other books including other rooms in the future. Jett said for now, he is focused on spreading the word about his new book, with no new projects in the works just yet. He said he plans to reflect on his next steps after the upcoming book signing.
“Just getting the word out there, I love kids reading my books, them learning more about history up there,” Jett said. “A room inside their own house, just learning more and more history, I get a lot of gratification out of that.”
Jett will sign his new book Thursday, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Justin Potter Library.
