Tennessee Tech Police took someone believed to be a former student into custody after a incident late on Monday night.
Police responded to calls reporting vandalism and an activated fire alarm at Bartoo Hall in the middle of the night. The individual who activated the alarm then moved to Crawford Hall, where an altercation took place with two student residents present in the lobby.
The individual had no weapon and was quickly detained by University Police. Tech officials say the incident was confined to the lobby of Crawford Hall and did not impact any resident hallways or rooms.
Police records show that about five minutes passed between the moment the individual turned on the fire alarm in Bartoo Hall and the time he was in police custody.
