The Tennessee Board of Regents will discuss the idea of merging the administration of TCAT Livingston and TCAT Crossville into one body at a Thursday meeting.
The proposal, according to a committee agenda, would keep the existing campus locations but bring administration of the two campuses under one rule. If approved by the full Board of Regents, the idea would be implemented by fall, 2025.
According to the board packet, the legislature granted the Board of Regents in 2018 the authority to conduct such mergers in an effort to “improve operational and administrative efficiencies.” In September, 2021, the regents voted to merge the Jackson and Whiteville campuses in west Tennessee. According to the committee agenda for Thursday’s meeting, that process gave regents staff “a better understanding of the process which now serves as a guide for future mergers.”
The US Department of Education and the Council on Occupational Education would need to to approve the merger.
Thursday’s meeting takes place at Motlow State Community College’s Moore County Campus.
