Byrdstown Mayor Sam Gibson pursuing a property purchase to add storage and parking for city use.
The Board of Aldermen voted Monday for Gibson to move forward on the deal pending an appraisal. Gibson said the property is the old builder supply building on Olympus Drive.
“It’ll be a great asset to the city if we can purchase that,” Gibson said. “We’re not locked in. We just want to proceed on, and when we get everything and agree on the price, we’ll do that at a later time.”
Gibson said the property would be used for cleaning, storing and maintaining vehicles. Gibson said equipment storage is also needed as the city tries to obtain back up gear for its water and sewer system.
Gibson said the property will come back to the Board for approval once the appraisal determines the property cost.
