Jackson Co Schools Secure Entrance Project Moves Forward

The Jackson County School Board took the next step on a system-wide secure entrance project Thursday night.

Board members approved a notice to proceed to the lowest bidder. Director of Schools Kristy Brown said the project would add access control to each school entrance. Brown said cameras will also be installed.

About $14,000 dollars was cut from project after a meeting with the architect over the project this month. Some materials changed as well as warranties.

The school board approved negotiating the project cost last month. Brown said majority of the work would be conducted when students are not at school such as fall break.

Brown said the contractor should have the project completed in 70 days once work begins.
