Clay County School Board approved amendments to this school year’s calendar.
That after realizing the 2022 Rollercoaster Yard Sale begins on September 30th. Bailey said when they original approved the year’s calendar, they were going off of bad information.
“The information we had when we made the calendar, it was another date,” Bailey said. “In doing this, we would not run buses on that date. Which you can imagine would be very dangerous to have buses running with the yard sale going on.”
Bailey said September 30th will now be an abbreviated, hour-long day. The final day of the semester before the winter break, December 16th, will be a full day of school.
Bailey said this change was the least impact on the school calendar. Teachers will be required to be at school on the 30th, students will not, and no buses will run.
“The number of days of school is the same,” Bailey said. “We’re not pushing back the last day of school or anything like that.”
