A former Putnam County Schools teacher was indicted on charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
61-year-old Michael Joe Phillips is being held in the Cumberland County Jail after a search warrant authorized the search and seizure of all computers and electronic devices in his Cumberland County home.
A TBI lab analyzed the digital media and found the presence of child pornography as well as evidence of distribution of child pornography. Phillips was arrested Tuesday by agents from TBI and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
According to District Attorney Bryant Dunaway, there is no evidence at this time that any child in Putnam or Cumberland County has been a victim in this case. The investigation is still ongoing.
