Cookeville Will Open Bids For N. Cedar Mini Storage Unit Materials

The city of Cookeville is set to open bids on salvageable materials from the former mini storage units on North Cedar Avenue.

City Manager James Mills said that the sale of materials would be the first step in demolishing the storage units to allow for more parking in the downtown area. He said that the city council was surprised to get inquiries about making such purchases.

“I guess a lot of that has to do with increased costs for building materials. I guess people think they can get a good deal here, so that’s why we’re offering them for sale.”

Mills said that available materials will include roll-up doors, walk-through doors, tresses, and several sheets of OSB plywood. City Council approved declaring a surplus of the materials several weeks ago.

He said the deadline for submitting bids is Monday, October 11th, and the city asks successful bidders to have their materials removed by Sunday, November 12th.
