Tennessee Tech will have $12 million in federal funding available to eligible students, but they must confirm enrollment.
Enrollment Management and Career Placement Vice President Brandon Johnson said where the funding goes is based on the university census. However, he said September 2 is when that data will start being analyzed.
“If you’ve not confirmed fall enrollment, do so and get your class schedule set,” Johnson said. “Start attending classes, make sure that enrollment is confirmed and business office functions are taken care and that your FAFSA is turned in if you’re eligible to submit one.”
Johnson said the census will look at multiple factors but financial status plays a large role in just how much assistance a student gets. He said students who have confirmed enrollment do not have to do anything to claim their money, except be patient during the month of September.
“Their enrollment status as of census date, which will be September 2, that enrollment date is the data that we will use to determine actual eligibility,” Johnson said. “If they’re an undergraduate or a graduate student, how many credits they’re enrolled in, what is their financial situation all of that data will be looked at, as of that September 2 date.”
Funding is coming through the Federal Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, which is part of the American Rescue Plan. Johnson said the university will use the time period after the census date to determine who is eligible and for how much.
