The city of Cookeville’s electricity is back fully after Friday’s storms.
Director of Cookeville Electric Department Carl Haney said while there were minimal issues, a majority of the damage came from large fallen trees.
“A lot of it touched down around South Willow Avenue, there were some trees down there that we went out and looked at,” Haney said. “It did not affect the electric down there over on the opposite side of the road of what our main power lines were. Out again on E. Spring, there were several trees that took down the line.”
Haney said damage on E. Spring Street ranged from downed trees and power lines to losing a circuit.
Haney said they were able to get the power lines cleared by roughly 6 p.m. that evening. Haney said that despite it being a holiday weekend, they were able to have on-call personnel take care of the damage in just a few hours.
“Our guys–we keep crews on call plus a majority of our guys know they’re subject to call and so it wasn’t any problem whatsoever for us.”
Putnam County and Overton County were sites of storm damage after an EF-0 tornado touched down around 1:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.
