Two Jackson County Senior Centers Getting Food Pantries

Jackson County’s two senior centers will be getting food pantries in Granville and Fairview.

Jackson County Mayor Randy Heady said this is through COVID money the county has already received.

“One of them is getting $850, the other one is getting $725,” Heady said. “So, this is money to help them put a food pantry in to help senior citizens that might be in need of food during the time we’re in right now.”

The Granville Senior Center is getting $850 and Fairview will get $725 for the food pantry projects. Heady said the amount each facility got is based on what they were awarded.

“AAAD (Area Agency on Aging and Disablity) from the Upper Cumberland Development District handled that,” Heady said. “I’m not sure that doesn’t have something to do with population of people who come to the center. How many people they actually minister to on a regular basis, is my understanding.”

The money was moved to the expenditure line after being approved as a budget amendment. This was approved during Monday night’s county commission meeting.
