Overton Health And Rehab New Facility Delayed To February

Overton County Health and Rehab has experienced shipping delays resulting in a pushed back opening of its new rehab facility.

Public Relations Director Scott Stevens said needed materials have finally arrived.

“For us it was window manufactures,” Stevens said. “The COVID affected some of those companies, vendors that manufacture pieces you need to complete your project. So, there was some with that. Not really health wise as far as the guys out here working. More so like the vendors.”

Stevens said he expects the center to open in February.

Stevens said the new 20 room, 14,000 square foot facility will focus on short term rehab for people transitioning to home. Currently, the center only has services for long term residents.

“It is going to be something that is kind of a new offering for the Upper Cumberland. We feel it is going to be unique and fill a void where some folks are kind of falling through the gaps,” Stevens said. “They are not really nursing home folks, but they need more therapy than home health possibly, and they need longer therapy than the hospitals provide. All of those are different variables established by insurance guidelines.”

Services the center can provide are expected to double with the addition, Stevens said. The new facility will be facing Bilbrey Street on the center’s grounds.
