The Hooper Eblen Center roof repairs are now complete.
Tennessee Tech Athletic Director Mark Wilson said damages to the roof go as far back as the 2015 ice storm.
“During that ice storm, we developed some horrendous leaks,” Wilson said. “We were playing Belmont that Saturday. I personally put my harness on and went on the beams and we hung tarps to catch and funnel the water into trash cans, so we could play that Belmont game. There was so much water coming in at that time.”
Wilson said since 2015, the university performed several small repairs to the leaks until finally fixing the roof. Overtime, the leaks caused some water damage to the gym floor.
“That one actually did damage to the floor,” Wilson said. “We had to take out part of the floor and replace it. If you know where to look, you can see that part of the floor is new.”
