Crossville Approves Hwy 127 Contracts

The Crossville City Council approved $1.4 million in contracts with T-DOT for the Highway 127 widening project.

The contracts will begin the process of water and sewer easement acquisitions and relocations from Interstate 40 north to Potato Farm Road. The city currently has about $2.48 million in its utility system account with another $440,000 loan payment due on other projects.

“I would like to move forward soon on some type of financing to reestablish our rainy-day fund or our savings account,” Mayberry said.

Council members asked Mayor James Mayberry at last week’s work session to meet with T-DOT about possible financing options the city might have available on that project. Mayberry said he had a meeting setup that had been postponed until later in the month. Mayberry said he has also explored some financing possibilities through the Tennessee Municipal Bond fund.

The contracts are due Wednesday and Mayberry said he did not want to delay movement on this much-needed widening.

“This one is on a fast track, there’s a lot of people pushing for this one,” Mayberry said.
