The UCHRA has $15,000 in Walmart gift cards available for Cookeville tornado survivors.
Community Services Director Lanelle Godsey said online applications will be available Monday.
“We are hoping to get that out as quick as possible,” Godsey said. “It will be first come first served, and so want to get this money into the hands of folks as quickly as possible. We’re hoping folks will start applying and that we can get these funds out to the community.”
United Way of Rutherford and Cannon County donated the funds to UCHRA. Applicants will be notified by email or phone if they are eligible and are notified of where to pick up their gift card.
Families who had complete or partial home damage from the tornado qualify. Godsey said fund distribution is determined by family size.
“For a household of one to two, it’ll be $75,” Godsey said. “For a household of three to four it’ll be $100, and for a household of five or more it’ll be $125.”
Other programs and services UCHRA provides includes Low-Income Home Energy Assistance ; Weatherization Assistance , Transportatio; Self-sufficiency Training And Results ; Transforming, Educating, and Advancing Multiple generations; and Commodities.
