If they can find any dry weather this week, construction on Oak Tree Towers should begin this week.
“We have obviously had a lot of wet weather,” Highlands Residential Services Director of Operations Chris Cassetty said. “Right now it is a little bit too wet to start, but hopefully, it will dry up soon, so thy can get started.”
Highlands Residential Services first awarded the bid to King Construction in January. The 50-thousand square foot project will have three floors with 50 apartment units.
Cassetty said the project is still expected to be completed by June 2021.
“Hopefully, it will go up very quickly,” Cassetty said. “We think we can get done from 10 to 12 months with good weather, but you always want to build in some contingency particular for the weather we have had the last few years. We think it will go fairly quickly once they get off the ground.”
If crews fail to complete the project by June 2021, HRS could lose $1.2 million in financing.
The project is located on Buffalo Valley Road.
