Cookeville State Representative Ryan Williams may face some opposition as he seeks re-election this year.
Dennis Bynum has picked up qualifying papers to run as a republican in the race for the 42nd District State House seat.
Williams has also picked up qualifying papers to run for re-election.
Candidates have until Noon, April 2 to turn in the qualifying papers. The election will take place August 6.
