Heroin Found During Cookeville Drug Surveillance

Cookeville Police arrested two people Tuesday after finding heroin during a drug surveillance at Days Inn.

47-year-old Donald Karper, Jr. of Livingston and 48-year-old Kristie Prowse of Cookeville were charged with controlled substance offenses.

Arrest warrants state investigators were at Days Inn on South Walnut Avenue when they observed a potential drug transaction in the parking lot. Investigators approached the gray BMW and found Karper and Prowse inside.

A K9 unit alerted to the vehicle and a search revealed approximately two ounces of an off-white powdery substance that appeared to be heroin.

According to warrants, Prowse admitted to purchasing the substance in Nashville while Karper accompanied her on the trip.

Both were booked into the Putnam County Jail with Prowse’s bond set at $25,000 and Karper’s at $7,000. Both have since been posted bond and will appear in court Aug. 19.
